Resident’s & Family Council

The Residents’ Council of Park Lane acts as a voice for residents and families to express concerns, exchange information and voice opinions to the administration of the home. The Residents’ Council is involved in fundraising programs to raise money to purchase items for the home and to attend outings etc; throughout the year (e.g. Raffles, Tuck Shoppe proceeds). Through this council, community involvement is encouraged. The Residents’ Council is a joint committee with the Pastoral Care Committee. Pastoral Care issues are listed as monthly agenda items to be discussed by members. Residents’ Council meetings are held monthly and all residents are encouraged to participate.

Our Family Council was officially launched in the Winter of 2018. The Family Council at Park Lane Terrace is an organized, self-led, self-determining, democratic group composed of family and friends of the residents that reside here. A staff adviser from the home is appointed to support and facilitate the council. The Family Council provides mutual support, empowerment and advocacy to the family and friends of the residents of Park Lane Terrace. The Family Council strives to meet the needs of its members and the residents of Park Lane Terrace. The Family Council supports and organizes special events, fundraisers and educational opportunities to family members, staff and residents. Benefits of Family Council: On-going mutual support from shared experiences Education and information related to the long-term care system Family input into decisions and changes Promotes open communication between the home and families Goals: To ensure that the Residents receive the care they need while maintaining their dignity and comfort. To address and document, concerns of the Residents and their families. To work with families and friends, staff and management to provide the best caring environment possible. To provide forums to educate families and friends on various topics. Park Lane Terrace’s Family Council meetings are held once a month.
